Short question: Do you think forgiveness entails prosociality towards the forgiven person, or just a return back to “normal.” Or as normal as it was?
Forgiveness is not the same thing as absolution. A person you’ve forgiven isn’t free from the consequences of their behavior just because you’ve let go of your anger and resentment. It’s a wonderful thing to forgive, but it doesn’t obligate you to give yourself over to someone who might bring chaos into your life.
